What happens if I do not participate in NewBridge Bank's overdraft protection for everyday debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals that overdraw my account? Beginning August 15, 2010, if you have not instructed NewBridge Bank to consider authorizing and paying everyday debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals that overdraw your account, these transactions will be declined if you do not have suffi cient funds in your account and/or available overdraft protection, and you will not be able to complete your debit card transaction or ATM withdrawal. Q: How can I notify NewBridge Bank that I want to participate in overdraft protection for everyday debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals that overdraw my account? You may notify us by:
When you notify NewBridge Bank, your decision will become effective the next business day. You can also change your decision at any time by notifying NewBridge Bank. Do fees apply to NewBridge Bank's overdraft protection? Yes. A $35 overdraft fee will apply to each item that NewBridge Bank authorizes and pays when you do not have suffi cient funds in your account at the end of processing. In addition, effective July 15, 2010, we will implement an extended overdraft fee. After the fifth (5th) consecutive business day that your account is in overdrawn status, NewBridge Bank will assess an extended overdraft fee of $2.00 per day until the account is returned to a positive balance. Does NewBridge Bank limit overdraft fees? No. However, NewBridge Bank will waive one overdraft fee per day if the ending overdrawn balance in the account is $10.00 or less. All subsequent items overdrawing your account that day will be charged the $35.00 overdraft fee. How can I avoid overdraft fees? The best way to avoid overdraft fees is to manage your account in a vigilant manner using a check register to list all of your deposits and withdrawals. NewBridge Bank also provides a variety of resources to help you monitor your spending, including NewBridge Bank Online Banking and NewBridge Bank Telephone Banking (1-336-242-1010 or 800-991-4243). Are other types of overdraft protection available from NewBridge Bank? Yes. In addition to NewBridge Bank's overdraft protection, a variety of other options are available to you. These include linking your checking account to a NewBridge Bank Savings Account, Money Market Account, Credit Reserve, or Prime Line of Credit. If you overdraw your account, an automatic transfer is made in increments of $100 to cover your transaction, up to your available balance or credit limit. Transfer fees may apply. If I have one of the above overdraft protection options linked to my checking account, do I still need to instruct NewBridge Bank whether or not to consider authorizing and paying everyday debit card transactions and ATM withdrawals that overdraw my account? Yes. Even with overdraft protection linked to your checking account, it is possible that you might have insufficient funds or credit available to cover an everyday debit card transaction or ATM withdrawal. In that event, the transaction could be denied. Will NewBridge Bank always pay items that overdraw my account? No. NewBridge Bank authorizes and pays items that overdraw your account at NewBridge Bank's discretion, and has the right not to pay any overdrawn item. NewBridge Bank will evaluate each item based on your account history and transaction patterns, along with other possible factors. |
