NewBridge Bank Jamboree Raises $102,900 for Local High Schools
August 22, 2011
Greensboro, N.C., – NewBridge Bank presented a check to local high schools for $102,900 earlier this morning. The money represents one hundred percent of the funds raised from the NewBridge Bank Invitational Football and Cheerleading Jamboree held earlier this month.
"We are privileged to present this gift to the athletic departments of 24 local high schools from Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Rockingham and Stokes Counties," said Jillian Gibson, Vice President and Director of Marketing for NewBridge Bank. "This gift is the result of tremendous community support for high school athletics in the Triad. Without our 270-plus sponsors and thousands of fans who attended the events, we wouldn't be able to make such a significant contribution to our schools."
The NewBridge Bank Invitational Football and Cheerleading Jamboree is the largest fund-raising effort led by NewBridge Bank each year. The Bank underwrites the Jamboree so that one hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the athletic programs of the participating high schools (see attached). The Jamboree began with a premier cheerleading competition presented by Solis Women's Health on Aug. 4 at NewBridge Bank Park. The following week the Bank hosted preseason football scrimmages on Aug. 12 at Mount Tabor, Rockingham County and West Davidson High Schools with Champion presenting the scrimmages at Mount Tabor. The football scrimmages at Mount Tabor and Rockingham County were called off shortly after they began due to area thunderstorms which drastically reduced anticipated proceeds from the gates.
"Fund-raising for the Jamboree relies primarily on sponsorship sales and the money we receive from admission to the cheerleading competition and football scrimmages," said Gibson. "This year's $102,900 gift to the schools is a testament to the power of local businesses coming together to support their community. The monetary donations of our sponsors prepared the Jamboree for success, rain or shine, and we couldn't sustain the achievements of this event without them."
Over 11,000 spectators, coaches, administrators and student athletes attended this year's Jamboree, and 2011 marks the second year in a row that NewBridge Bank has awarded over $100,000 from the event. The addition of this year's contribution means NewBridge Bank has given over half a million dollars to local high schools since the Jamboree's inception in 1999.
