NewBridge Bank Invitational Jamboree Supports and Showcases High School Athletics
July 13, 2011
2011 Event to Include Four New Schools
Greensboro, N.C. – On Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 12, the public can enjoy the high energy of high school cheerleading and football when NewBridge Bank hosts the 13th annual NewBridge Bank Invitational Football and Cheerleading Jamboree. This year's Jamboree events begin with a premier Cheerleading Competition presented by Solis Women's Health on Aug. 4 at NewBridge Bank Park, followed by Football Scrimmages on Aug. 12 at three Triad high schools.
For the first time, NewBridge Bank will expand the Jamboree into Forsyth County, adding four schools and a Forsyth Football Scrimmage presented by Champion at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem. The four new high schools are all from Forsyth County – Carver, Glenn, Mount Tabor and Reagan – and take the total of participating high schools to 24.
"We have been exploring the expansion of the Jamboree into Forsyth County for several years," said David Barksdale, Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer for NewBridge Bank. "With the success of last year's Jamboree and the solid foundations we enjoy with existing partners, we knew that 2011 was the year to bring this exciting event to Winston-Salem, one of our primary markets. With the addition of four new schools from Forsyth County, our fundraising goal has been set higher than ever before, at $120,000. We will need the support of schools, parents, fans and local businesses throughout the Triad to reach this goal which benefits our talented high school athletes by providing funds for the participating schools' athletic programs."
As in years past, the Bank will also host Football Scrimmages at West Davidson High School and Rockingham County High School. Each site will feature eight local high schools' varsity and junior varsity football teams competing in exciting preseason football scrimmages.
In addition to the Cheerleading Competition and Football Scrimmages, NewBridge Bank will host its annual Jamboree Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 10 , celebrating 2011 Honorary Chairman Jim Grobe, the head football coach of Wake Forest University's Demon Deacons, as well as participating schools' coaches and administrators. The luncheon will be at noon at Bridger Field House in Winston-Salem.
"This fund-raising event is NewBridge Bank's largest annual investment in our communities," said Pressley Ridgill, President and Chief Executive Officer of NewBridge Bank. "We are thrilled Coach Grobe is serving as our 2011 Honorary Chairman and that together, we share a passion for the development of student athletes who will grow into the future leaders of our communities."
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Football and Cheerleading Jamboree will be used to benefit the athletic departments of participating high schools (see attached) within NewBridge Bank's areas of operation in the Piedmont Triad.
"We've worked diligently for the last 12 years and have raised over $470,000 to support our local high schools' athletic departments," Ridgill said. "With the 2011 event we will surpass over half a million dollars in total giving."
The Jamboree's Cheerleading Competition presented by Solis Women's Health will take place on Thursday, Aug. 4, at NewBridge Bank Park. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with the competition beginning at 7 p.m. On Friday, Aug. 12, the Jamboree continues with three simultaneous football events: the Davidson Football Scrimmages at West Davidson High School in Lexington; the Forsyth Football Scrimmages presented by Champion at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem; and the Rockingham Football Scrimmages at Rockingham County High School in Reidsville. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the first scrimmages kicking off at 6 p.m.
Tickets to each event are $5 at the door with free admission for children ages six and under.
